And, speaking of Celia, we've really had a lot of fun with the Celia Cruz exhibit at the Bass and the projects we did with hundreds of children during our recent Celia Cruz Family Day. Anybody who hasn't checked out the exhibit should definitely do so before it closes on August 19.

AND HUGE THANKS TO ALL THE FAMILY DAY VOLUNTEERS WHO WORKED DURING BOTH THE CELIA CRUZ AND THE JADE TREASURES FAMILY DAYS!
YOU MADE IT A GREAT SUCCESS AND WE LOVE YOU FOR IT!!!
You ALL are awesome!!!

The incredibly prolific Miriam Kolker

Miriam is one of Flashlight's favorite regulars - we can always rely on her to show up when we need her! She knows her stuff and does incredible work. Here is just a tiny sampling of the many cool projects she has done on Photoshop.

Yay! Big shout out to Miriam and to all of her cool friends who have joined Flashlight!

Just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate you. - Michelle & Dinorah

A typical Saturday at Flashlight Project

We meet from 12 to 5pm at the Bass Museum of Art, 2121 Park Avenue, Miami Beach. This is us in our lab. We view films and videos of experimental work, we have lunch together, and we make art using digital media - and draw, collage, etc. as well.

Jenny B's Cosmic Painter experience

Cosmic Painter is a free download for Apple OS X users.
Go here to download - http://www.garagecube.com/opensource/cosmicpainter/index.php
It's like a spin art set on your computer - motion graphics, exportable as stills or as moving images.
At Flashlight Project, we use the moving image files in other video editing programs, such as iMovie and Final Cut Pro, and we combine them there with other animated and live action clips.
Jenny dragged small images and text into her work.

Karen takes the altered digital photo further

beautiful work by Karen V!!!

Allison scan portrait

Allison used a normal scanner as an image-making tool. She placed her head on the scanner bed, opened the scan in Photoshop and altered the image to create a final product.

See a clip - work in progress

This clip was produced by students attending the Design Dimensions Institute at the Wolfsonian Museum in Miami Beach.
Watch this space in a few weeks, and see what will happen ultimately to this little clip....
