Some Graffiti Art by Jordan Bz.

Just some old graffiti. sorry about the ones without color. "Some people become cops to make the world a better place, some people become vandals to make the world a better looking place."-Banksy

The Eko and Craze piece were done about 3 months ago. I used colored pencil to fill it in. Nice coloring, Eh?
The City Scene with the drips, is a Werk piece. Werk is my graffiti alias. The second one with the splatters is my most recent. comment it and tell me what you like. sorry no color yet.

Art to Work loves Miss Yip Chinese Cafe

We had the most fabulous lunch at our last meeting, catered by Amir from his restaurant Miss Yip Chinese Cafe on Meridian by Lincoln Road. It was a lot better than our usual sandwich fare - and fueled the artistic fires. Thanks Amir!

Enden commercial

The entire Art to Work group collaborated on this recycled 16mm piece donated by Dinorah. We scratched, colored and embedded messages into this commercial for a dandruff shampoo...

cool pinhole camera

This is an actual pinhole camera, made of paper. You can open the back and put in a roll of 35mm film, just like a real camera. At Art to Work, we have experimented with guerrilla-style photography (mostly because we don't have fancy equipment and a darkroom), and we've gotten some cool results.

This camera is made by Lomo, low-tech Russian camera maker.

We've also worked with Holga cameras.

Fall 2006 meetings at the museum

We've started our school year with new students!

This is a typical day in the Bass Museum conference room.

During lunch, the discussion topic focused on how much support we need (or not) from others, as artists. Parents, teachers, peers can provide great motivation, but we also recognized that it's possible to become more determined to succeed and grow creatively, even if the support from family is lacking. We all admitted that some amount of acknowledgement from the community - whoever that is - is really important.

visiting artists

We invite artists who have expertise in different areas to visit and teach our group. One of our all time favorites is Dimitry Chamy, awesome genius web and graphic designer. He showed us how to do some basic things using Flash, and also to create our own type fonts.

This is our conference room/lab at the Bass Museum.

This is how it's done

camera-less photography

One of the things we have done in Art to Work workshops is create portrait imagery without using a camera. Instead, we place faces, hands, feet and our favorite props directly on the surface of a scanner. Once we scan the image into the computer, we can manipulate it with all kinds of effects. These are some of the examples made by kids we visited.
